|Apple Pie in a Jar|
When apples are in season, we all stock up with as many as we can store.
Pies, cobblers and sauces are made. And then we realize we still have more apples and we want to preserve them for use later in the cold winter months.
The solution - we will turn these apples into apple pie filling that will be processed in a hot water bath. This way the filling is ready to go and shelf stable for a full year. A great gift for the busy hostess or a time saver for your holiday baking.
We will peel, core and slice Honey Crisp Apples using my Kitchen Aid attachment to make the work go quickly. I will also show you how to prepare the apples by hand.
This class will also cover the basics of Hot Water Bath Canning. Detailed printed instructions and recipe will be provided for this hands-on class.
Each student will take home 1 quart of Apple Pie Filling, which is ready to put into a pie crust, cobbler or top off some vanilla ice cream. (Value $15)
